Welcome to Box Grove
Box Grove was first settled in 1815 and by 1867 the hamlet had a church, a schoolhouse, two taverns, woolen mill, sawmill, a store, a blacksmith and two axe-makers shops. By 1910 the mills had closed and most of the industry had disappeared although the hamlet remained. Today the only reminders of this once vibrant hamlet is the Box Grove Schoolhouse and the Box Grove Church where one of the founding families, the Tomlinson's, are buried in the adjacent graveyard.
The Parkview Golf Course is now situated on some of this land where the old mills once were along with some residential development
Today, Box Grove has undergone a transformation from protected agricultural to residential use. Box Grove is located in the area around Ninth Line (also known as Box Grove By-Pass) and 14th Avenue with the communities of Legacy and Rouge Fairways to the west and Cedar Grove to the east. Residential development began in the late 1990s and continues today.
