Annual Shania's Sunflower of Hope Spring Fun Fair
Less than a week until Shania's 6th annual fun fair to be held this Saturday, April 28th, at the Markham Fair Grounds.
This is becoming one of the local Markham events that marks the arrival of spring. It all started with the ambitions of one little girl to raise money for neuroblastoma research at SickKids Foundation so that no other child need suffer from this disease again.
This special girl was Shania Johnston who passed away from this disease when she was only 8 years old. Shania's passion and dedication touched her community at such a deep level that six years after her passing, friends and volunteers help to run the annual fun fair that raises money for her foundation, Shania's Sunflower of Hope Fund.
Each year, a group of girls offer to have their hair cut and donated at the fair in support of Shania’s foundation. This year thirteen young girls will volunteer to have their hair cut on stage. Three of the girls were invited to go down to CP24 Breakfast show and have their hair cut on live TV to raise awareness of neuroblastoma research.
This event is a blast for kids. Bring the family out for a day of fun and to help support a great cause.
